TORONTO, Ont. – Grey Cup fever is in full swing in Toronto ahead of Sunday’s big game, but while the media got to meet the players and coaches this morning, the buzz at the Fairmont Royal York hotel was about “Quick Six” the Calgary Stampeders mascot.
It seems the hotel is unwilling to let the team replay a tradition started in 1948, when it allowed the Stamps to bring a horse into the lobby.
Calgary coach John Hufnagel said they’re still working on it.
The traditional galloping of the grey horse along the sidelines when the Stampeders score a touchdown has been ruled out at Rogers Centre due to the number of TV cameras.
Wednesday’s festivities will end with a ritzy gala in an unusual place: the field at Rogers Centre, where the Argos and Stampeders will compete in the 100th Grey Cup final.
