Construction work to extend the path pedestrian tunnel network from Union Station began, Monday, which means a number of lane and road closures for the remainder of this year and into 2013.

The section of University Avenue extending north from Front Street will be reduced to a single lane northbound for about 30 metres from until Jan. 2013.

The work is being carried out in partnership with the Union Station revitalization project, and will improve pedestrian access to and from Union Station and across the busy intersection of Front Street, York Street and University Avenue.

Pedestrian access will continue to be maintained during the road closures, however the north crosswalk across York and University will be closed.
