An arrest has been made after Saturday’s horrific train-bus crash in Southern Egypt, that saw dozens of kindergarten students killed.
Authorities have arrested the switch operator who was on duty when the crash happened. It’s alleged he was asleep when the bus full of kids drove over the train track.
Train accidents in Egypt are not completely uncommon, and many are blamed on an outdated system that relies heavily on switch operators rather than automated signalling.
Witnesses say the crossing gates were in the “up” position at the time of the crash.
