Some holiday school concerts are being scrapped or moved to regular school hours because of ongoing teachers’ job action, making it difficult for working parents to attend.
As a result, the Halton District School Board has asked schools holding daytime concerts to schedule more than one performance, to make it easier for parents to see the shows.
Meanwhile, the Durham Board is asking schools to give parents plenty of advanced notice on any time changes.
In York Region, public elementary teachers will be in a legal strike position on Monday, and will begin a work-to-rule campaign. However, it’s not known at this time how this will affect the schools’ holiday concerts.
