TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police are treating the death of an elderly woman as suspicious after she was found dead in an east-end home Wednesday.
Police have disclosed little about the circumstances surrounding the discovery at a home in the Gerrard Street and Woodbine Avenue area, but said they are treating the woman’s death as suspicious. An autopsy will be conducted Thursday.
An elderly man, also found without vital signs at the residence on Ladykirk Avenue, was taken to hospital.
Police said the man is in “grave” condition at an undisclosed hospital.
“Our hope is for a speedy recovery for him,” Det.-Sgt. Wayne Banks said.
Emergency crews were called to the home at about 12:45 p.m. where both the woman and the man, said to be in their 70s, were located without vital signs.
Homicide detectives have been called to investigate.
