Man arrested after thefts at Richmond Hill cemeteries

TORONTO, Ont. – York region police have arrested a 27-year-old man in Toronto after several thefts took place at two Richmond Hill cemeteries.

The thefts took place between Oct. 6 and Oct. 16 when two purses, electronics and a cell phone were stolen from unattended cars while the occupants paid their respects at the grave sites of loved ones.

Peter Rusk was arrested on Nov. 2 at a plaza on Finch Avenue West.

He is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of fraud, possession of property obtained by crime, uttering forged documents and breach of probation.

Rusk is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on Nov. 15.
