TORONTO, Ont. – A 38-year-old female cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a garbage truck at Yonge and Gerrard streets Tuesday morning.

Toronto police were called to the scene at 8:45 a.m.

“The vehicles involved remained on scene,” Const. Clint Stibbe told CityNews.

“The driver is co-operating and we are looking for witnesses.”

The cyclist and the garbage truck were travelling westbound on Gerrard Street. The garbage truck struck the cyclist when it turned right onto Yonge Street, police said.
