TORONTO, Ont. – A woman has died a day after a fire at a Scarborough home sent her to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Family members confirmed to CityNews that Chandraleela Sivapatham succumbed to her injuries Wednesday.

Crews responded to a fire at a bungalow on Canlish Road near Lawrence Avenue East and Birchmount Road, shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Five people were taken to hospital, including Sivapatham, who was located without vital signs.

Her husband was taken to hospital in critical condition.

A mother and her toddler were also taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
