TORONTO, Ont. – There was young ambition to hit the airwaves in 680News’ downtown newsroom Wednesday.
A part of the 18th annual Take Your Kids to Work Day, dozens of Grade 9 students filled the newsroom to take a peek at the studio.
“There are a lot of microphones,” Michael noted.
Morgan was overwhelmed by the features in the on-air booth but said while she never considered a career in broadcasting, she is intrigued now.
“I didn’t but maybe now. It looks cool,” she said.
Matthew said he might pursue a career in broadcasting, even announcing a sign-off during his visit.
“I thought it was really cool seeing what goes on in the radio station and all the things that they have to do preparing for the day,” he said.
The students touring 680News were among 250,000 Grade 9 students countrywide participating in Take Your Kids to Work Day.
It allows students to see first-hand what a workplace environment entails and perhaps, even inspire an interest in a field.
It also allows children to see their parents in an environment outside of the home.
