Premier Dalton McGuinty has announced a change to his Cabinet following the resignation of Toronto-Centre MPP Glen Murray.
Murray stepped down Saturday from his role as the province’s Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Murray said he would release more details about his decision to resign in a Sunday news conference.
Murray, who served as the mayor of Winnipeg from 1998 to 2004, was elected to the Ontario legislature in a 2010 byelection.
He was re-elected in 2011 and given the cabinet post in the Liberals’ minority government.
Murray’s resignation opens the doors for him to run for leadership of the Ontario Liberal party.
McGuinty has suggested that John Milloy, currently the Minister of Community and Social Services, would become Minister of Training Colleges and Universities.
He would continue to serve in his previous post, as well.

McGuinty thanked Murray with the following statement:
