TORONTO, Ont. – It has been a dangerous day for pedestrians on Toronto roadways Thursday, with a string of accidents that claimed the lives of two, and left eight others injured.

Ontario’s police watchdog is probing the death of a 30-year-old man after a police cruiser “came into contact” with him following a hit-and-run.

In a separate collision, a 33-year-old woman was killed in the Lawrence Avenue West and Dufferin Street area around 6:50 a.m. She died at the scene.

At around 7:15 a.m., a female pedestrian was struck in the east-end. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was struck near Morningside and Finch avenues.

In two separate incidents, a woman in her 40s was rushed to hospital after an east-end collision, while a man suffered serious head injuries in a Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue hit-and-run.

A man sustained leg injuries when he was struck by a taxi on Bay Street between Elm and Edward streets.

An adult and two grade-school aged children were struck by a vehicle at Bathurst Street and St. Clair Avenue Thursday afternoon. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Late Thursday, a woman was struck around 6:30 p.m. in a hit-and-run at Whitefaulds Road and Broomlands Drive near Jane Street and Rutherford Road. Her injuries were non-life threatening.
