TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have identified a woman found dead in a Parkdale rooming house.

Police were called to the residence on Maynard Avenue, near Jameson Avenue and King Street, shortly before 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, where they found the woman’s body with obvious signs of trauma.

Rita Adams, 59, of Toronto, was stabbed to death, police said.

Investigators believe she knew her attacker.

The victim was a spiritual advisor, police said, and investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have known her or has visited her.
