TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have released new surveillance video of Cabbagetown stabbing victim Nighisti Semret and the man suspected in her murder.

The footage, taken from various viewpoints, shows the suspect walking behind Semret. In one clip, the suspect is seen running away.

Police want to determine what route Semret, 55, took to return to her Cabbagetown rooming house in order to obtain more surveillance footage.

Semret left the Delta Chelsea hotel after her overnight shift last Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. and was stabbed in a popular neighbourhood shortcut near Bleecker Street.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 150 to 180 lbs. with a medium build and dark eyebrows. He was wearing a heavy, three-quarter-length dark jacket with circular buttons on the cuffs, a dark hat with a peak, which was possibly leather and a light-coloured scarf around his neck, tied at the back. He wore dark pants that appear to be baggy at the knee and lower leg and worn-out shoes with laces.
