TORONTO, Ont. – Halloween is approaching, and the trick-or-treat filled evening will take place on Wednesday, October 31 this year.
Many events around the city will celebrate the ghastly night, with several events, especially parties, taking place the weekend before.
If you won’t be trick-or-treating or handing out candy, the following is a list of things you can consider doing.
Spooky events:
Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from October 5 – October 28, Canada’s Wonderland is taken over by zombies and psychotic clowns. Featuring special rides and Halloween scares, it is not recommended for children under 13.
If you’re looking to be scared, the Powerhouse of Terror Charity Haunt offers several frightening attractions located at the Power House at Kipling and Lake Shore Boulevard.
The Extreme Haunted House for Charity in Ajax is free and features both family-friendly and mature crowd exhibits and interactive actors.
Events for kids and families:
At Casa Loma will be a Boo-Tastic Trick or Treat, where kids age 4-9 will be able to trick-or-treat around the castle.
The Howling Hootenanny is taking place at Black Creek Pioneer Village, being hosted on the weekend of October 27-28. The event features plenty for families to do in the Halloween spirit.
For families you can attend BOO! at the barns, a fun-filled event featuring arts and crafts and face painting at Wychwood Barns.
The Halloween Howl at Toronto Botanical Gardens will feature a scavenger hunt and let kids try out their costumes before the big day.
A family Halloween festival at the Bloor West Village will feature pumpkin carving, face painting and a treasure hunt.
There will be trick-or-treating, crafts and more at the Bata Shoe Museum for Halloween Fun.
Events for an older crowd:
There are two walks for those looking to be scared on their feet. The Halloween Howl at High Park includes a nature art-show and nighttime hike, while the Spirit Walk at the Mackenzie House explores the alleys and streets of Toronto’s downtown.
For those interested in the supernatural, Ghost Tracking at Casa Loma may be for you.
For those looking for some action, the Halloween Overnight at Lazer Quest will provide you the perfect opportunity.
If music is more your thing, the Phantoms of the Organ performances may suit your fancy.
Meanwhile, you can catch the Little Shop of Horrors at the Al Green Theatre.
Party events:
If you’re looking to party, there are plenty of options for you. Some of the major parties include the Halloween House Party at the Drake Hotel, Halloween at the Phoenix, the Diablo Halloween Ball at Sudbury Patio & Loft and the Ghouls by Gaslight Rue Morgan Halloween Party, also at the Phoenix.
Other parties include the Zombie Apocalypse Halloween Ball at Pacha Lounge, the Monster Mash at The Guvernment and The Walking Dead at Kool Haus.
There will also be a Halloween Block Party on King West.
