TORONTO, Ont. – The New Democratic Party has launched an online effort to convince Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to recall the legislature.
It’s not often the New Democrats come out in favour of forcing people back to work but they’ve launched a campaign at Queen’s Park involving an online petition and social media.
It’s a chance for people to have their voices heard even though the legislature is off limits, MPP Cindy Forster said.
“We’re hearing from people across the province, each one of us is hearing from people in our ridings via emails and phone calls saying ‘we want you to get back to work,’” Forster said.
The NDP has set up a Facebook page and are encouraging people to use the Twitter hashtag #MPPsBackToWork.
The opposition parties are convinced the main reason mcguinty prorogued the legislature when he resigned was to avoid more fallout on the cost of the cancelled gas plants in missisauga and oakville.
With the legislature shut down, it means all current bills and motions are lost.
