TORONTO, Ont. – There is some good news for commuters on the Gardiner Expressway.

The Bay Street ramp to the eastbound Gardiner expressway and the eastbound Gardiner Expressway ramp to Jarvis Street are scheduled to reopen on Sunday morning.

They’ve been closed for around six weeks — since Sept. 11, 2012 — for repair work on the ramps and roadway.

Myles Currie, a director with Toronto Transportation Services, told 680News the work is pretty much done.

“There is a possibility if weather cooperates, we might be able to get them open sooner, but we basically completed the reconstruction … and repaired the road surfaces on the ramp,” Currie said.

Meanwhile, another part of the Gardiner will be off-limits to motorists this weekend. The eastbound collector lanes from Wickman to Park Lawn roads is scheduled to be closed on Saturday from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. for maintenance.

During the closure, motorists can use Lake Shore Boulevard or the Queensway as alternative routes.
