An scheduled budget meeting held by Richmond Hill city council erupted into a fight Thursday, and brought York Regional Police to the chambers.
Media officer Blair McQuillen told 680News it began when a town councillor interrupted the meeting. This led to an angry exchange.
At one point, the councillor’s meeting chair pushed the building’s emergency panic button, which prompted police to come to the scene.
The councillor has since apologized, saying she thought the button would alert security and not the police.
