TORONTO, Ont. – A 42-year-old woman faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of her disabled daughter.
On Feb. 19, 2011, police responded to an unknown trouble call at 150 Burrows Hall Blvd., located in the city’s east end.
When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Cynara Amiee Ali – who had severe mental and physical disabilities– without vital signs. She was pronounced dead later in hospital.
Initially, police were told there was a home invasion. However, less than a month later, the girl’s mother, Cindy Ann Sherry Ali, was charged with seven charges including manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.
Police haven’t released the cause of Cynara’s death.
