TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto Botanical Garden is getting a helping hand from the city.
The Parks and Environment committee voted to boost the annual grant to $160,000 from $25,000, but it’s not the immediate funding the garden wanted.
The budget committee and city council will have to agree, so any extra money won’t be sent out until next week.
The Toronto Star reported six staffers at the gardens have actually taken a pay cut until the end of the year because money is so tight.
A non-profit group runs the 17-garden complex near Lawrence Avenue and Leslie Street.
