The Toronto District School Board is considering “portables” for its kindgergarten students in an effort to save money.

The proposal calls for the board to shut down smaller schools and put full-day kindergarten students in pre-fabricated portables.

The Globe and Mail has reported that the board will hold public meetings over the next six weeks to get parental input into their “K-to-12″ strategy.

The community consultations come after Queen’s Park froze the board’s capital spending for running over budget on a quarter of its construction projects.
