HAMILTON, Ont. – The Hamilton-Burlington SPCA is probing the discovery of over 100 small-breed dogs living in deplorable conditions in Norfolk County.
The animal protection department received a complaint on Friday that a number of dogs were living at an address in Waterford in “unacceptable conditions.”
When officers responded to the complaint, they discovered 149 dogs.
With support from the Ontario SPCA, the animals were removed from the address and are now receiving appropriate medical care.
“To aid in the care of these animals over the coming weeks, we are looking for the community’s support in donations of towels, blankets, litter pans and laundry soap,” HBSPCA Inspector Vivian LaFlamme said in a news release.
Donations can be dropped off at the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA at 245 Dartnall Rd. in Hamilton.
