An Ottawa group that aims to prevent human trafficking is getting some financial help from the province.
The group, “Persons Against the Crime of Trafficking in Humans,” is getting an $18,000 grant to educate and raise awareness about this crime.
Spokeswoman Meghan Adams says some of the money will be used to develop school presentations for students between the age of 13-to-15 years old, since youth in this age group are often lured into the sex trade.
The Ontario government is also investing a total of $1 million in 31 other community-safety programs across the province.
