The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public to not consume certain Clef Des Champs brand Organic Ground Ginger, over fears that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

The products, which have been distributed nationally, include:

Organic Ground Ginger in a 35g package with a UPC of: 6 97026 73441 7 and a code of: BFO11441B06.

Organic Ground Ginger in a 500g package with a UPC of: 6 97026 70441 0 and a code of: BFO11441B07.


There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, but the consumption of contaminated food can cause the foodbourne illness salmonellosis.

Salmonellosis can cause sometimes deadly infections, especially in the young, elderly or those with weakened immune systems.

In healthy people it can cause fever, severe headache, vomiting and nausea.

The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling the affected products.
