WestJet Airlines has now put a name to its soon-to-be-launched regional air service.
WestJet ‘Encore’ will debut in the second-half of next year, and it appears the expansion is coming just as new competition enters the market.
The ‘Encore’ brand was the name picked by its customers in a vote, according to officials from the company.
The ‘Encore’ service will cater to smaller markets using Bombardier Q-400 propeller aircraft.
The schedule for Encore will be released early in the new year, according to WestJet officials.
WestJet has previously said that they plan to launch the carrier in one-half of the country first, before expanding the service to the other half of the country nine-months later.
Air Canada is also preparing to launch its discount regional carrier soon, with more details on the carrier expected sometime this fall.
