People who own homes in York and Durham Regions will likely be happy to know that their property values have gone up.
Assessment notices were mailed out this week and the average property value in York Region has increased by 31 per cent.
The assessments show that properties in Durham Region have meanwhile gone up by 17 per cent.
That’s the good news, but the parallel bad news is that higher assessments mean higher taxes.
The average increase in York Region on property taxes was 27 per cent, while Durham Region property taxes will go up by an average of 14 per cent.
