A construction worker was rushed to hospital with various injuries after being hit by a car on the northbound Highway 427, north of Dundas Street.

Ontario Provincial Police told 680News the worker was struck while removing pylons and working to open the construction area of the collectors lanes of the highway.

Police said the worker was hit by a red mustang travelling approximately 100 km/h, which sent him up onto the car’s hood.

The worker suffered various injuries, initially reported as several broken bones, however police now say the injuries have been downgraded and the worker may be released from hospital shortly.

The OPP also told 680News reporter Carl Hanstke that charges will not be pressed against the driver as it appears the worker may have stepped into a live lane when he was hit.

The northbound collectors lanes have all been re-opened at Dundas Street.
