TORONTO, Ont. – More than 100 Maple Leaf Gardens treasures will be up for grabs during a month-long auction that begins on Thursday.
Electronics tycoon Sherman Cunningham, who owns the memorabilia, has decided to sell them.
“People who are going to go after this are not going to buy to resell . They are going to buy it because they want it. It will make someone happy,” Cunningham said.
The old penalty box at Maple Leaf Gardens, the Leafs’ dressing room toilet and the door to the dressing room are among the over 100 items up for auction at the newly revamped Maple Leaf Gardens.
Among the most coveted treasure is the 1967 Stanley Cup banner, which Cunningham expects to fetch at least $200,000 for.
Bidding will continue online through Nov. 14 on the frozenpond.com and NHL.com websites.
