TORONTO, Ont. – The union for the Toronto Transit Commission has launched an advertising campaign to better inform the public about its behind-the-scenes employees, such as repair and cleaning staff.
The “Protecting What Matters” campaign from the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 includes television ads, pamphlets inside TTC vehicles, ads on the sides of TTC buses and pre-movie ads, and it uses the slogan “We take care of the details that take care of you.”
The release of the campaign follows the transit commission’s decision to contract out a total of 159 cleaning jobs in September. However, it does not make any reference to that move, which the commission says will save $500,000 in the first year.
ATU Local 113′s president Bob Kinnear said his members want to minimize or eliminate any impact to the public as they communicate dissatisfaction.
A sneak peek has already surfaced on YouTube. To view two of the ads, click here.
