MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – A 27-year-old cyclist has been pronounced dead after being struck by a transport truck near Airport Road and Northwest Drive, Tuesday.
Peel Police Constable Thomas Ruttan told 680News the man was struck just after 9 a.m. and died at the scene.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Cst. Ruttan said as of Tuesday evening, charges had not been laid against the driver of the truck.
However, “the major collision bureau will do an investigation to determine whether or not they’re warranted, and for sure if charges are warranted, they will be laid.”
There is no word on whether or not the truck driver was injured.
Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
