CALABOGIE, Ont. – One person is dead after a small plane crashed into a lake near Calabogie, about two hours west of Ottawa on Monday, Ontario Provincial Police said.
The single-engine Socata TBM 700 plane reportedly went down at about 12:15 p.m.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The site of the crash, located in cottage country, could only be accessed by ATVs, OPP Sgt. Kristine Rae said.
Initially, an Ornge rescue air ambulance had been dispatched.
Police said the plane was “blown apart” upon impact.
