Toronto city council is no longer talking about selling the zoo.
Three days after the city asked for interested parties to come forward, council passed a motion cancelling any potential privatization.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, which owns most of the zoo land, was opposed and there were suggestions privatizing the zoo could jeopardize the giant panda deal with China.
Toronto Zoo's newest polar bear was born in March. Critics worry that conservation efforts and the fate of the animals will be at risk if the zoo lands in private hands.
