TORONTO, Ont. – Police nabbed two drivers going well beyond the speed limit on Wednesday — the third incident in two days.
Police told 680News a driver in a Mercedes was caught doing 152 kilometres an hour in an 80-kilometre-an-hour zone, on the northbound Allen Expressway.
Earlier on Wednesday, a man in his 30s was nabbed on the Gardiner Expressway for going almost twice the legal speed limit in his vehicle. He’s now facing stunt driving charges.
Police told 680News they pulled over the driver just after 6 a.m. The vehicle — a Mazda 3 — was clocked at 174 kilometres an hour in the westbound lanes of the Gardiner near Highway 427.
There were two people in the car.
The driver has had his licence suspended for seven days pending a court appearance, and his car has been impounded for a week under the province’s street racing legislation.
Also, early Tuesday morning, the driver of a Dodge Challenger was clocked going 155 kilometres an hour on the northbound Don Valley Parkway.
The 27-year-old man from Richmond Hill, Ont., faces stunt driving charges. His licence has also been suspended and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Toronto police have issued more than 300 suspensions for speeding and/or stunt driving since Jan. 1, 2012.
