OTTAWA - Liberal interim leader Bob Rae said it too premature to remark on the leadership contest, just one day after Montreal MP Justin Trudeau took the plunge.

“Let’s see what happens,” he said.

“Mr. Trudeau has made his announcement. I’m sure there are other candidates who are thinking about it.”

“I think only time will tell how the race will unfold,” he said.

In June, Rae ended months of speculation when he said he would honour his initial pledge to not run for the party’s top spot.

The contest officially gets underway Nov. 14.
