TORONTO, Ont. – Ryerson University is emailing security alerts to its campus community in a move to enhance the safety of the downtown campus.
The email updates went into effect last week and are sent to Ryerson.ca email addresses. The alerts will also be posted to the university’s software tool Blackboard.
Beginning Oct. 8, users can opt-out of the alerts.
The email updates went into effect last week after a series of sexual assaults on or near the downtown university since the beginning of the school year.
Last week, the Ryerson Students’ Union held two closed-door emergency meetings to discuss ideas to address safety and security on campus.
