TORONTO, Ont. – The city is calling for sustainable and creative proposals for the future of the Toronto Zoo.
The city manager’s office issued a Request for Expressions of Interest on Monday that encourages ideas for innovative and sustainable business models for the east-end zoo.
The request also asks respondents to consider plans that include the Rouge National Urban Park, which resides next to the zoo.
A review committee comprised of city staff, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and Parks Canada will review the responses.
The city manager will make a recommendation regarding the next step to the executive committee and city council. A report from the office is expected next spring.
City council will make the final decision regarding what outcome arises from the submissions.
The city will accept proposals until Nov. 26.
