TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police arrested a car salesman on Monday in connection with a fraud investigation.
The accused owned at least two used car dealerships, including Avision Car Rental, Creations Motors and Ace Auto Inc.
Police said between Aug. 2009 and Aug. 2012, the suspect allegedly took customers’ money before giving them the vehicle. Then, he would either stop contact with the customer or provide the customer with a different vehicle than initially offered, police said.
In some cases, the vehicles had significant safety and operability problems.
Police said there may be more victims.
