York Regional Police launched a pedestrian safety campaign for high school students, Wednesday.
They released a series of videos that show common, unsafe distractions that put pedestrians at risk. The videos are available to view here.
Police also reminded motorists to be aware of 57 “community safety zones” across York Region where young people walk.
Fines for drivers are increased such zones, and pedestrians who don’t abide by traffic laws can also be fined.
