AMSTERDAM – A bit like the sword in the stone, passerby at the Leidseplein, a busy square in Amsterdam, kick, stomp, and pry at an apparent iPhone 5 stuck to the pavement.
However, determined, their tries are futile — Apple’s latest smartphone was stuck to the pavement with super glue.
Dutch website iPhone5.nl set up a video camera nearby to capture the fruitless attempts by passerby.
“iPhone5.nl had the first iPhone 5 in the Netherlands,” according to the clip description on YouTube. “And we glued it to one of the busiest squares in Amsterdam to see how people reacted.”
The smartphone does not budge — not even a firm kick could nudge it.
Still, passerby, scan the crowd, before attempting their unsuccessful bid to nab an iPhone 5 ahead of its release date in The Netherlands. The smartphone will be available on Sept. 28.
But no luck. Most laugh and scurry away upon realizing it is glued to the pavement.
In a separate iPhone 5 prank, Jimmy Kimmel asked passerby to review the new iPhone when in fact they were holding an iPhone 4S. The new smartphone was not even available yet.
What would you do if you found an iPhone 5 on the pavement? Some listeners weigh in.
