TORONTO, Ont. – Massive plumes of smoke were released into the air after a blaze broke out at a Canadian Tire in Leaside on Monday afternoon.
The fire started shortly after 5 p.m. in the home and garden centre at 825 Eglinton Ave. E., near Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue.
Fire officials said the outdoor centre was destroyed by the fire and flames had spread to the store’s roof.
The fire was contained within 30 minutes.

Fire officials said staff and customers cleared the store.
No injuries were reported.
Toronto police shut down Eglinton Avenue in the surrounding area. The roadways have since reopened.
The TTC diverted its 34 Eglinton East, 100 Flemingdon Park, 51 Leslie and 56 Leaside buses both ways.
All routes were restored shortly after 8:30 p.m.
