Teen girl killed after being hit by car driven by her older sister

TORONTO, Ont. – A 17-year-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle driven by her older sister.

Paramedics told CityNews the girl was trapped underneath the Toyota Camry, driven by her sister, after the crash happened just before 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

Rescue workers managed to free the girl and rush her to hospital where she eventually succumbed to her injuries.

The fatal incident happened on Atwell Drive, near Martin Grove Road and Highway 409.

The 18-year-old driver was heading south on Atwell Drive when the vehicle left the roadway and hit the 17-year-old girl, who was walking on the sidewalk on the west side of the street, according to police.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.

The 18-year-old driver is cooperating with police, who say it is too early to determine if any charges will be laid.
