All but a few residents have been allowed to return home after a gas leak forced the evacuation of a number of families in Markham.
Residents of approximately twenty homes were evacuated Saturday morning as a precaution, after reports of loud, booming noises near Claxton Road.
Initial reports indicated there may have been some type of explosion in the area, with police confirming a gas leak near Raymerville Drive and Markham Road.
Enbridge, Markham Hydro and York Regional police and fire were called in to investigate and find and cap the source of the leak.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
