TORONTO, Ont. – Remains found by an employee at a North York garbage facility on Friday were from a bear, Toronto police said.

Police said its identification was confirmed by the Centre of Forensic Sciences in a Tweet posted Friday evening.

Investigators went to the Dufferin Transfer Station after a worker discovered what they said was a human hand.

It is unclear how the remains landed on a conveyor belt at the facility.

In August, remains found at the side of the Gardiner Expressway shutdown the westbound lanes of the expressway for several hours. They were later confirmed by the coroner’s office as belonging to a pig.
