TORONTO, Ont. – Mayor Rob Ford said there was no wrongdoing and his family-owned business did not receive preferential treatment when he requested road repairs outside the company ahead of its 50th anniversary.
“If there’s pot holes, they have to get fixed,” he said.
“That’s city work that had to be done.”
Ford said the stretch of street at Greensboro Drive in Etobicoke, where the Ford family business Deco Labels and Tags is located, was visibly beaten up, with “huge” parts of asphalt missing.
“I think you can see it quite evidently, the edges of the road, there’s huge pieces of asphalt that were missing. The culverts were ripped up,” he said.
“Deco didn’t get any preferential treatment here.”
