A new ranking of cities lists Oslo, Norway, as the most expensive global city in which to live.

Its residents also have the fourth highest wages in the world.

The survey, done by Swiss bank UBS, looked at 72 cities around the world.

Top 10 most expensive world cities are:

  • Oslo, Norway
  • Zurich, Switzerland
  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Geneva, Switzerland
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • New York City, United States
  • Luxembourg
  • Stockholm, Sweden
  • Caracas, Venezuela
  • London, England


Zurich ranked the highest when in consumer purchasing power, followed by Sydney and Luxembourg.

Tokyo was deemed the most expensive city for food, followed by Zurich and Geneva.
