KITCHENER, Ont. – A Kitchener man had his car impounded and his driver’s licence suspended for one week after his car was clocked at 222 km/h on Highway 401 west of Port Hope on Monday.

Ontario Provincial Police were patrolling the highway from the air when they spotted the vehicle and alerted officers on the ground.

The black Chevrolet Cobalt was driving at 222 km/h when the vehicle was pulled over.

The 30-year-old man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Cobourg on Nov. 7.
