The provincial Liberals will not be “riding to the rescue” of the Jarvis Street bike lanes.
The Toronto Sun has reported environment minister Jim Bradley has told the city he will not order a full environmental assessment of the project.
Public Works chairman Denzil Minnan-wong said Bradley’s decision clears the way to re-instate the reversible, fifth lane on Jarvis which was removed to make way for bike lanes.
Cycle Toronto calls this a waste of more than a quarter-million dollars.
Work on the Sherbourne Street bike lanes is expected to be completed this fall.
