TORONTO, Ont. – There is some good news for motorists following a big bump at the pumps earlier this week.
Roger McKnight at En-Pro told 680News the price is expected to fall 6.2 cents at midnight to an average of 130.6 per litre at most GTA stations, and he attributed the drop to an internal battle between Ontario’s oil companies.
“Certain parts of the country have certain litres in so far as the oil companies are concerned,” he explained. “The one litre in southern Ontario that covers from Ottawa to Sudbury to Windsor has decided to slap some people on the wrist and decided to grab some market share by doing this move.”
McKnight said it’s the largest one-day drop he has ever seen.
Other cities in Canada have also been recording huge price increases over the past week. Montreal was hit with a 13 cent per litre increase, while Calgary saw a nine per cent increase. McKnight said international conditions have nothing to do with the fluctuations.
However, McKnight added we should not expect lower prices for too long, based on previous patterns.
