TORONTO, Ont. – You can now toss clamshell containers in your blue bin.
The city’s Public Works and Infrastructure committee is moving forward with a plan to recycle the containers, which hold berries as well as plastic egg cartons and bakery trays.
However, black-bottom contains commonly used by restaurants for takeout cannot go in the blue bin.
Toronto’s Dufferin recycling plant, which handles nearly half of the city’s recycling load, will take on the new plastics.
Solid Waste Management Services will promote the new policy over the next few weeks.
