TORONTO, Ont. – A 16-year-old girl and a man have been charged with soliciting two teenage girls to juvenile prostitution.
Toronto police allege the suspects solicited two teenage girls, ages 14 and 15, into prostitution in the Sherbourne Street area.
On Sept. 8, a 16-year-old girl was arrested and charged with several offences, including two counts of procuring a person to become a prostitute and two counts of threatening bodily harm.
The girl cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
On Sept. 9, a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the prostitution investigation.
Anthony Merchant is charged with two counts of procuring a person to become a prostitute, two counts of exercising control and two counts of trafficking in persons.
Both suspects were scheduled to appear at Old City Hall on Sunday.
