TORONTO, Ont. – The 19-year-old charged with drunk driving in a head-on collision in August that killed a father and daughter was released on $100,000 bail with stringent house arrest conditions.

Sabastian Prosa, of Caledon, appeared at Old City Hall on Friday morning.

He faces 12 charges, including two counts of impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

On Aug. 5, at about 2:50 a.m., the driver of a GMC Envoy was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 427 approaching the ramp to the QEW, the OPP said. The Dodge Caravan exiting onto the 427 was struck by the Envoy.

The impact killed the driver of the Caravan Jayantha Neil Wijeratne, 49, and his 16-year-old daughter Eleesha, leaving his 50-year-old wife Antonette in critical condition. She remains in hospital.

“If you drink and drive, let’s just be real, you don’t just put yourself in danger,” Brian, Wijeratne’s 19-year-old son told CityNews Channel.

Placed under house arrest with his father Giuseppe Prosa and stepmother as sureties, Prosa cannot drink or take drugs and can only leave his home for medical appointments and court appearances.

He is due back in court Oct. 25.
